An Introduction To SCADA Systems

SCADA stands for Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition. These are the systems which are spread over a wide area, used in controlling and managing industrial environments.

SCADA systems are very useful as it controls all aspects of a network and make the work easy and safe. In simple words you can say that SCADA systems can be used to control the flow of water, manage the supply of electricity, control the temperature of a large network. SCADA systems can even be used to do all kinda stuff from controlling the water supply to managing the traffic lights and stuff like that of the whole t0wn.
They are mostly used in power grids, sewage and water supply, electricity and power generation, manufacturing etc.

Structure of SCADA Systems.

SCADA system consist of four major categories :
1. Data acquisition
2. Data communiction
3. Data represntion
4. Control

How SCADA Works.
The measurement and control of the SCADA system is done by one master unit MTU which can also be described as the brain of the SCADA system and consist of one or more RTU. The basic work of RTUs is to gather the information/data and sends it to MTU, when the data sent by the RTUs is revived by the MTU, necessary commands are issued by MTU to be executed.

SCADA system consist of hardware for input/output, control equpiments, network and HMI which stands for Human-Machine Interface, These stuff makes up a SCADA system.

Conclusion
Hacking into SCADA is really very very dangerous, as one wrong move can  kill many people and can cause lot of property damage.

As a result you will end up being behind the bars for a long long time, so use your knowledge in a healthy and ethical way rather than doing black hat stuff and causing havoc, and yea this Tutorial Is For Educational Purpose.
